GICTS College to give 1. 25cr scholarships

Gwalior: GICTS College is all set to give 1.25cr scholarship to students who have cleared their 12th examination. To give the Scholarship College will be organizing ‘ the great mind-mock cum scholarship test’ on 14th of April.

Scholarships will be given to Biology, Commerce and Arts and Mathematics students. Test will start around 10 AM and it will continue till 12 noon.

Interested students can get the registration form from GICTS office located in Laxmi bai Colony padav form is free and there will be no fees for the form.

With this College has started a new trend to encourage students who are willing to give 100% to their students but sometimes are held back due to financial reason.

Kumar Bhagwan Khaire to take charge as Registrar of Mumbai University

Mumbai. Maharashtra government has appointed Kumar Bhagwan Khaire as the Registrar of the University of Mumbai. He was earlier Additional Collector of Pune. He will take charge of his office on Tuesday.

The post of registrar was vacant for a long time and for this questions were being raised. Even the senate members had accused that the absence of full-time registrar and Pro Vice-Chancellor is the reason for administrative problems in the university. “The varsity has no Pro Vice-Chancellor and no full-time registrar for almost two years now.

In the absence of a Pro Vice-Chancellor, the burden of examination centre is on the controller of examination. University should make provisions to appoint the Pro Vice-Chancellor at the earliest,” Senator  Abhay Bambole had said.

In the response to these the govt has assured last week that it has published advertisements for the post of controller of exams and we are also making provisions to appoint a full-time registrar within two months. We are working towards making changes in the system so that there are no errors.      

Punjab to fill all vacancies of teachers

Chandigarh: The Punjab government Monday announced that all vacancies of school and college teachers will be filled soon.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal gave approval to fill all vacant posts to ensure smooth functioning of the educational institutions, a government spokesman said here.

At a meeting of education department officers here Monday, Badal directed the officers to immediately initiate the process of recruitment. 

He also asked officials to look into the viability of establishing the state level teachers recruitment board. Some 10,000-12,000 teachers retire every year. 

He said recruitment and promotions of teachers should be done regularly so that no vacancy is kept pending. 

Badal declared that 2012 and 2013 would be exclusively devoted to the overall development of government schools and higher institutions.

He also asked officials to fill all the vacant posts of principals in the colleges at the earliest to ensure their proper functioning.      

UP to promote IT sector

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government Monday decided to give a fresh impetus to the IT sector and involve it in education, health, industry and governance.

The move came after a two-hour meeting Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had with HCL chairman Shiv Nadar.

Earlier, in his presentation before the chief minister, Nadar said that integration of IT with governance could yield wonderful results and could involve more people in sectors like health and higher education.

He also proposed that 20 primary schools in 2012 and 100 primary schools in 2013 be included in financial funding by the Shiv Nadar Foundation.

Akhilesh Yadav earlier told Nadar that he wished that computers were used like mobiles in the state.

Earlier, the Uttar Pradesh government rolled out a red carpet welcome for Nadar and his seven-member delegation as it landed in a chartered flight.

The meeting was called to decide on the possible and prompt modalities of rolling out the ambitious election promise of giving free Tablets to students who pass Class X and a laptop to all those who clear Class XII.

A close aide said the chief minister was more focused on the availability and a time frame for giving away the laptops and tablets.

The move is likely to cost the government Rs.1,819 crore - calculated at Rs.10,000 a laptop and Rs.1,000 per tablet.

A total of 22.93 lakh students passed the Class X exam through the UP Board last year and 15.90 lakh appeared for the Class XII or Intermediate exam.

Maharashtra Minister meets Governor discusses university matters

Mumbai. Maharashtra Minister for Higher and Technical Education Rajesh Tope today (Monday, 2 April) met the Governor of Maharashtra K Sankaranarayanan at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai.

Issues relating to university education including those relating to the University of Mumbai were discussed at the meeting. The meeting lasted for 75 minutes. Earlier the minister indicated that Maharashtra government is thinking for digitization of examination process. 

This may include question-paper setting to checking of answer-sheets.

This process may reduce higher fee burden on parents. Government is scrutinizing proposal of some companies, which in turn ready to provide support in total digitalization of exam process right from form filling to upto issuance of degree certificate. This proposal includes exclusive web portal for each & every university.

This upgradation will reduce result declaration period. Result can be provided through email & students can get digital degree certificate.
