Odisha state Matriculation results by month-end

Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The results of Annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations-2012 in Odisha are expected to be declared by the end of this month, official sources said.
 
The work is almost complete and the results of the matriculation examinations conducted by Board of Secondary Education (BSE) would be out before June 30, School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena said.
 
Efforts are on to declare the results anytime after June 27, he said.
 
Meanwhile, BSE officials at Cuttack also confirmed that the results of the examination held in March-April this eyar would be published before June 30 as announced earlier. 
        
“The tabulation of the results is over and all arrangements to declare the same are in final stage”, said a BSE official.
         
This years matriculation examination was mired in controversy when it was found that some question papers of Regular stream were stolen from a centre after examinations began in the third week of March.
 
Beginning from March 19 and scheduled to end on March 31, the examination for Regular students was suspended on March 21 after the question paper theft case came to light. A total of seven papers of the examination was again rescheduled which began on April 17 and ended in over 2000-odd examination centres on April 26.
 
Although, a little over 4.5 lakh students appeared in the examination, more than 6000 of them were booked for malpractices as they were found resorting to unfair means during the examination.
 
Similarly, action was taken against at least a dozen of teachers and two centre superintendents for dereliction of duties during the time of the examination.
 
The controversies did not end there. The Board and the State government came under lot of criticism as the answer sheets were evaluated under candle and torch lights at some centres while in some other centres, the evaluators complained of difficulties in evaluating the answer sheets as they were drenched in rain waters and illegible. 

Girls outperform boys in UP Class XII results

Allahabad: In keeping with the trend, girls of Uttar Pradesh Board have outshone boys in Class XII results announced, in which the overall pass percentage stood at 89.40 per cent.
             
The overall pass percentage improved by 9.26 per cent from last year, with girls registering a handsome success rate of 95.52 per cent against 84.73 per cent of boys.
             
CBSE Class XII results announced on May 28 also saw girls' pass percentage at 86.21 as compared to 75.80 per cent of boys.
             
Announcing the results, the state's Director for Secondary Education Vasudev Yadav said that about 26.84 lakh candidates had appeared for the exams out of which about 26.07 lakh were declared successful.
            
Those passing the Intermediate examinations, have also a reason to cheer as the newly-elected Samajwadi Party government has promised to distribute free laptops among them.
            
Although the pass percentage of the girls was 10.79 per cent higher than that of the boys, the male students' pass percentage rose by an impressive 14.2 per cent while that of the females saw a modest increase of 4.76 per cent, Yadav said.
           
However, the proportion of those securing a first division fell by 5.12 per cent even as the percentage of those getting second and third division grew respectively by 4.93 per cent and 1.43 per cent, he added.
           
Students from Bhadohi put up the best performance (96.12 per cent) followed closely by Jaunpur (95.68) and Sitapur (95.68). 
           
The most dismal performance came from Mathura where only 67.05 candidates secured pass marks.
           
Also, in subjects like English, Hindi, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, more than 90 per cent of the candidates secured pass marks though in Mathematics the success rate was slightly lower at 87.71 per cent. 

82 Percentage students pass new syllabus

In the class XII Board exams too, it was girls who outshone boys. This year, nearly 11 lakh students took the same examination and were evaluated on the same parameters.

The first batch of students who took the class X examination as per the Samacheer Kalvi (uniform syllabus) secured a pass percentage of 86.2, according to the Directorate of Government Examination that declared the results here on Monday. This is a 0.9 percentage point increase from last year’s 85.3 per cent.

As has been the trend for several years now, girls secured a pass percentage of 88.9, outdoing boys who recorded a pass percentage of 83.4.

The results of this year’s class X examination assumed additional significance as a total of 10,50,922 students studying in State board, matriculation, Anglo Indian and OSLC schools — who took separate examinations until last year — wrote the same examination for the first time.

While the new syllabus evoked mixed responses from teachers and parents of students studying in different streams, the results indicated that the syllabus has gone well with students, assuming the pattern of evaluation did not change drastically since last year.

Centums in Science

Science seems to have been a popular subject among students, if the nearly 10,000 centums (9,237 in total) are any indication. As many as 1,141 students secured centum in mathematics and interestingly, 5,305 students obtained centum in Social Science.

Erode, Tuticorin and Virudhunagar bagged the top three positions among all districts in the State, with an overall pass percentage of 94.58, 93.68 and 93.53 respectively. Chennai was not too behind, with 92.56 of  the city’s students passing the examination, and earning the district the fourth spot.

A total of 18 students shared the top three ranks in the State among those who studied Tamil as their first language. In the category of students who studied Tamil or any other language as first language, as many as 29 candidates have secured the first three spots.

The first rank was shared by P. Srinath of Ponnaiyah Ramajayam Public School, Thanjavur, Anjala Beegum A.H. of D.A.V. Matriculation School, Mogappair East, Chennai, Ramya Shreeshaa Cotah, St. Michael’s Academy, Chennai, and Mitisha Surana, Agarwal Vidyalaya Matriculation School, Vepery, Chennai. All of them scored a total of 497 marks upon 500. 

Four students take top honours in the Tamil Nadu 10th public exam

Chennai: Even as the entire state is eagerly awaiting for the tenth common exam results that is to be released on June 4, 1:30 PM, the Directorate of School Examination has released the date for the instant supplementary exams.

According to the directorate, the instant supplementary exam would begin on June 25 and end on July 2. 

Those school students failing to clear the common exam can take up instant supplementary exam by filling up the application that would be available at the school office from June 5 to June 7 paying appropriate exam fees.

Private students can obtain the application form the office of the Chief Education Officer of their respective District and submit the filled application form with appropriate exam fees at the office of the Regional Deputy Director, Department of School Education. 

SSLC students (both old and new syllabus) need to pay Rs 125 for all subjects, Matriculation students need to pay Rs 135 for one subject and Rs 100 for additional subjects, Anglo Indian Board students need to pay Rs 85 and Rs 50 for additional subjects.       

Centum in Maths plummets down this year

Chennai: With the tenth standard exam results just released, numeric shows that centum in Mathematics have drastically come down as compared to the previous year.

Result of tenth common exam under "Samacheer Kalvi" scheme was just released by the Directorate of Tamil Nadu school examination. Totally 10.84 lakh students appeared for the exam through schools and 95,418 appeared through private.

Last year, 12, 532 students secured centum in Mathematics. But, only 1,141 students secured centum this year through "Samacheer Kalvi" scheme.

"Although, all the questions were asked from the book only, the reason for not many scoring centum was that the one -mark questions were a bit twisted", told students.    

Girls perform better than boys in University exam

Sambalpur: Girls have outshone boys with better marks in the plus three (BA/BSC/BCOM) final year examinations of the Sambalpur university in Odisha.

Girls had topped the university in 16 subjects as against three by the boys in the examinations results of which were declared.

The pass percentage in commerce with honours was highest at 91.63 per cent followed by 85.04 per cent in arts honours and 69.38 in science honours. Similarly, pass rate without honours was 81.04 per cent for arts, 58.25 per cent for science and 68.09 per cent for commerce.

A total of 3,110 students out of 3,692 in arts honours had passed the final degree examination in the university of them 237 in first division. Altogether 7,637 of the 9,707 students without honours had passed the examination 125 them with distinction.

In science stream, 886 of the 1286 students passed with 270 of them in first division while 586 of the 1012 students without honours had  cleared the examination 51 of them with distinction.

In commerce honours, 383 of 421 students passed the exam with 73 in first division. In nonhonours category, 862 of 1272 students had passed the examination, 111 of them with distinction.

1,092 more centum in all subjects than last year

Chennai: The plus two results percentage has improved by 1.1 % to 86.7% compared to the last year count.

The number of centum scored by the students in all the subjects increased by 1,092, highest ever in the history, because of the students having more awareness about their higher education from this performance.

Due to difficulties in the questions asked in the physics subject, only 142 students are scored the maximum marks compared to the last year count of 646 students. In the same way, the count for mathematics centum by 2,656 students which is dropped by count of 64 compared to the last year total of 2,720.

Leaving Maths and Physics subjects, 200 more centum are made by only chemistry students leading to the total of 1,444 compared to the last year performance of 1,246 students for the Engineering admission in Tamil nadu.

Girls outshine boys in Class XII state board exams

Chennai: Girls continued to outshine boys in the Class XII examinations conducted by the state government, results for which were announced today.

Students hailing from Namakkal district bagged the top three ranks from among nearly 8.20 lakh students who appeared for the exam conducted in March.

Girls continued to dominate by registering a pass percentage of 89.7 while 83.2 per cent of boys cleared the exams. Incidentally, this time there was a drastic dip in the number of centum-scorers in Physics, with only 142 students scoring a hundred as against a little over 600 last year. It was the same case with Mathematics too.

However, more students had scored centum in Chemistry this year. Susmitha from Namakkal topped the exams by scoring 1,189 out of 1,200 marks while the second rank was shared by three students from the same district. Two students from Namakkal came third.

Andhra Pradesh SSC Results to Be declared on May 23

The AP Board of Secondary Education (APBSE) has announced that the results of SSC 2012 will be declared on 23rd of May i.e.. On Wednesday at 11:00 am.

The Director, Government exams, said that the results of SSC Public Examination which was conducted in March 2012 shall be released by the Minister of Secondary Education In Hyderabad at Office of the Director  of Government Examinations.

Students tense after Indian Certificate of Secondary Education results

MUMBAI: The ICSE results which saw more students with 90% and above scores has given worry lines to class X students from other boards as they try to secure seats in one of the top 10 city colleges. "I know I have worked really hard for my papers and also did well in all my papers. But I'm still worried if my score will be good enough to match the kind of marks ICSE students have scored," said Rohit Paranjpe, an SSC student. 

He also added that most of his friends are worried about not making through the course or college of their choice. 

ICSE students, however, have other things to worry about. Some were disappointed because they missed the privilege of being the all-India topper by just one mark. "I am very happy with my score and I know it is enough to get me through the best college anywhere. I missed the 'all-India topper' tag by just one mark, but there's nothing I can change now," said Tanvee Deokule, a student of Pawar Public School, Bhandup. 

Parents were equally worried about the competition students will face during junior college admissions. "My daughter scored 98% (best-5) but I realised the topper had scored 98.80%. There's going to be cut-throat competition during admissions this year," said Arun Mehta, father of 16-year-old Ayushi Mehta, the topper at Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School. 

Most schools had reason to celebrate this year not just with 100% results but also with the increasing number of 90% scorers in their batch. "Our results have been fantastic and the number of 90% and above  scorers has also increased," said Alice Vaz, principal of Ryan International School, Kharghar, adding that 24  students in her batch scored above 90%. At St Mary's ICSE School, 49 out of 105 scored above 90% and the topper, Arunabh Mishra, scored 97.2%. 

"We are worried that we'll see more dejected students this year during admissions, especially high scorers. Hopefully, the admission process will be less stressful than the previous years," said the principal of a South Mumbai college. 

CBSE website to give updates 

CBSE has launched an academic website www.cbseacademic.in to provide information on its academic activities and policy initiatives."The website will be an information resource on the board's ongoing programmes, with special focus on training, innovation and leadership programmes for principals," said CBSE chairman Vineet Joshi. 

Chennai region CBSE Class 10 results: 99 Percentage pass, many report perfect 10s

CHENNAI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) published the results of class 10 for theChennai region on Monday. As many as 99.66% of the 1,52,086, who appeared for the board and school-based tests in the region have qualified for admission to class 11. 

In the Chennai region, 97,259 took the board exam, while 54,741 opted for the school-based test this year. As many as 21,884 students, including 16,466 students, appeared for the class 10 exams in the state this year. 

A Deepshika, a class 10 student of Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya Senior Secondary School, who scored a perfect 10, said, "It was so unexpected. I was sitting in my coaching class when my friend told me about the results. After that I couldn't stop thinking about it and couldn't wait for my class to get over. I am so happy." 

Many schools reported that several of their students had secured the highest cumulative grade point average of 10 by securing the highest grade (A1) in five subjects. While 28 students in PSBB, Nungambakkam, secured a CGPA of 10, 18 students in Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram secured a perfect 10, and seven in Sir Sivaswami Kalalaya secured the top score. L Neelakanta Pillai, principal of Kola Perumal Chetty Vaishnav Senior Secondary School, said, "About 10% of our students have secured a CGPA of 10 thanks to the implementation of CCE. We hope that the system will soon be extended to class 12 as well. Then, like western countries, our children too will be happy doing what they do best." 

The board does not declare a student pass or fail. It allows students who have scored either A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2 or D grades to continue to the next class. Students with E1 or E2 grades are declared eligible for improvement of performance. 

"The students will be given a certificate of continuous and comprehensive evaluation comprising of their performance in classes 9 and 10. The performance encompasses their achievements in scholastic as well as co-scholastic areas," said regional officer of the Chennai region D T Sudharshan Rao. 

Despite the CBSE making board exams optional in a bid to reduce exam-related stress, nearly 64% of the students who appeared for the test in the Chennai region opted for the board exam. Overall, more than 75% of class 10 students in CBSE schools opted for the board exam this year. 

Candidates can apply for verification of marks within 21 days of the declaration of results and those who wish to apply for improvement of performance can apply before June 22 without late fee. The tentative date of this examination will be July 16. 

Girls outperform boys in SSLC exams in Karnataka

Bangalore: Girls outperformed boys in the SSLC examinations held in April this year in Karnataka with a pass percentage of 84.58 against 80.03.
    
The overall pass percentage was 82.26. As many as 7,31,991 candidates appeared for the examination, of which 6,02,147 passed, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwar Bhat Kageri told reporters.
    
Udupi district stood first with 89.53 pass percentage, followed by Sirsi with 88.31. Hassan was in third spot with 85.92 pass percentage and Bidar last with 63.32 pass percentage, he said.
    
Students in Scheduled Tribe category (75.49 per cent) did better than Scheduled Caste students, who recorded a pass percentage of 72.64 per cent, Kageri said.
  
As much as 77.07 per cent of the candidates from government schools passed, while 85.46 per cent of candidates from unaided private schools passed in the examination, he added.   

In all, 132 candidates were debarred for malpractices, Kageri said adding that SSLC supplementary examinations would be held from June 18, 2012.
  
He also advised failed candidates,who apply for retotalling or photocopies to enroll in the supplementary exam before the last date of submission, without waiting for the result.
    
A total of 47 schools recorded zero percentage and there were no government schools in it, he said.   

Kegeri announced distribution of three computers for three students securing the highest marks in each taluka. 

Goa board Class XII results likely on May 21

PANAJI: The Goa board of secondary and higher secondary education is likely to announce the Class XII public exam results on May 21.

The results' announcement will end the wait for 14,516 students who have answered the exams held from March 3 to March 27.

"The results are nearly ready; they only have to be printed now. They will most likely be announced on Monday," a Goa board source informed. Of the 14,516 students who have answered the exams in the arts,  commerce, science and vocational streams, 7,411 are girls and 7,105 boys. Another 797 reappeared for the test this year.

After the Class XII results are announced, the admissions to first year degree courses will open the following day for the arts, science and commerce streams.

The graph of the Goa board Class X and XII results has been volatile for the last five years. On an average, a pass percentage of 76% was recorded at Class XII by the board until 2008, when the pass percentage went up to 79.32%. The upward swing continued in 2009 when for the first time in the board's history, the pass percentage crossed 80 and touched 82.55%. The pass percentage saw a minor drop in 2010 to 82.52% and slid down to its 2008 record of 80% again in 2011.

This is the second year when students of Class X and XII will get marked in both marks and grades. The grading system was introduced for the public exams during the last academic year, with which an internal assessment system is also in place to reduce the pressure on students to perform once a year at the board exam. The system of marks was continued along with grades when the new grading system was introduced last year to enable students to understand the allotment of grades better.

However, the board decided that students will be evaluated as per grades and marks for the 2012 exams as well.

Kerala Higher Secondary Examination results announced

Thiruvananthapuram: Girls excelled in the Kerala Higher Secondary Examinations for which the results were announced today.

The total pass percentage stood at 82.25. Of the 2,93,112 students who appeared for the examination in 1,897 centres, 2,58,179 candidates qualified for higher studies, State Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb told reporters in Thiruvananthapuram.

Out of the 3,334 students who got 'A' grade in all subjects, 2,234 were girls.

Pass percentage was more in Kozhikode district (90.96 per cent) and lowest in Pathanamthitta district (81.2 per cent).

Among the 61 candidates who appeared for various arts examination at the Kalamadlam Arts School, 51 students qualified for higher studies and pass percentage in the Arts School was 83.6 per cent.

The examination result of the Kerala State Vocational Higher Secondary was also released today for which the pass percentage was 84.73 per cent.

Class X results on June 4

The results of this year's class X board exam will be announced on June 4 at 1.30 p. m., said N.R. Sivapathi, Minister for School Education. Around 12 lakh students appeared for the exam this year.
