Children could eradicate corruption from home: Kalam

Ranchi: Hinting his doubt over a Lokpal putting a lid on corruption completely, former president A P J Abdul Kalam said Lokpal would only fill up jails while children and youth could begin eradicating corruption from home.
    
"What Lokpal will do is if it finds anyone guilty it would put them in jail, and jails will be filled up. What we want is nobody should go to jail ... as we want good human beings," Kalam said while interacting with children here.
    
Launching the Jharkhand Chapter of "What Can I Give Mission", the missile man advised the children to make their homes corruption-free by preventing indulgence in corruption by any member of the family.
   
Asking the children to take the oath that there would be no corruption in their families to eradicate corruption, Kalam told them to "tell no" of anyone indulged in bad things.    

"If you do that, corruption will go away in no time," he said, adding "home of ethics" would prevent filling up of jails.
   
Stating that the youths are the great resource and hope of the nation, Kalam asked them to work for bringing happiness to their homes and keeping the environment clean by regular plantations.
   
Apart from doing these noble deeds to prevent corruption, the former president inspired the children that their careers would get wings if they become aware that they were not born to crawl but have enormous potential, goodness, ideas, dreams, greatness and confidence to excel. 

Ask parents not to resort to corruption: Kalam to students

Indore: Stressing that "charity begins from home", former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam asked students to insist that their parents do not indulge in corruption.
    
Dr Kalam delivered a lecture on "what science can give you" at the Holkar Science College here.     

"A strong Lokpal bill will come, criminals would be sent to jails, one day jails would be filled up, and then we will need homes, beautiful homes, so why not begin from home?" he said.
    
"If they are indulging in corruption, ask your parents to stop...that is the solution," Kalam said, during an interaction with the students.
    
He also advised the teaching faculty and researchers to find ways for convergence of local languages in science education. 

Kalam interacts with dyslexic students

Jaipur: Former President A P J Abdul Kalam interacted with students afflicted with dyslexia- a learning disability- and answered their queries. 
 
Children got excited as soon Kalam arrived at Bhawani Child Development center on Sirsi road near here and gave their introduction to him before the session. 
 
Responding to queries by students, Kalam said his dream was to see smiles on the faces of people.
 
Well known as Missile Man, Kalam, who told the kids that he liked poetry and the profession of a teacher, also administered oath to the students for dreaming high.
 
A class 12th student Kshitiz performed Yoga whereas some students performed a group dance on the occasion. 

Kalam, Hegde to get S R Jindal Prize

New Delhi: Former president A P J Abdul Kalam and ex-Karnataka Lokayukta Santosh Hegde would be bestowed with the S R Jindal Prize for their contributions in the field of Science and Technology and social development.

The awards carrying a cash prize of Rs 1 crore each would be presented on February 23 here. Sitaram Jindal, patron of Sitaram Jindal Foundation and CMD of Jindal Aluminium, said the sole objective of instituting the Jindal Prize and S R Jindal prize for individuals and organisations is to motivate others to come forward and engage in such acts of welfare for the citizens.

Other awards like Jindal Prizes for Education, Health and Rural Development and S R Jindal Prizes for Crusade Against Corruption, Rural Development and gallantry awards would also be given away on February 23, a release said.
