IMA delegation meets Maha health minister

Chandrapur (Maha): Indian Medical Association delegation along with its Chandrapur chapter submitted a memorandum to Maharashtra government for setting up a government medical college.
 
The delegation comprising top IMA office-bearers requested health minister Suresh Shetty in Mumbai to look into the demand, said Dr Mangesh Gulwade, Joint Secretary of IMA Chandrapur.

Chandrapur MP supports medical college demand


Chandrapur: Local MP Hansraj Ahir today said setting up of a government medical college here is the need of the hour since the district has the highest number of cases of Sickle cell anemia and thalassemia.

 "I have been following up the issue with Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad since June 2010 and he has assured of looking into the matter in his official correspondence," the MP said.

The representatives from Indian Medical Education and Research Institute, Mumbai had recently visited the place and had collected various data like existing facilities in the Civil Hospital here, he said.
