Coimbatore: The Avinashilingam University for Women here has designed and developed a partial robotic-based 'soan papdi' flaking machine.
The first machine would be delivered next month to
Ghanta Foods Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad, manufacturers of Bambino brand products
including soan papdi, a popular flaky Indian sweet, Dr S Maragatham,
Dean, Faculty of Engineering of the University, said.
Manufacturing of soan papdi being labour intensive
and time consuming process, the university took up the project as a
challenge, she said. The Rs eight lakh three-armed robotic machine would
help reduce labour and wastage, she claimed adding the university had
patented the product.
