Mumbai: Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, has been granted special status, Higher Education minister Rajesh Tope, on Friday, announced. Now ICT, Mumbai got status in line with engineering institutes like the Indian Institute of Technology.
All India Council for Technical Education provides the status, which enables ICT for special grants from the Ministry of Human Resource Department and also grants from the state government. This will enable the institute to improve its infrastructure and other facilities which are available to high-end institutes, Tope said.
A 2011 annual survey on the research standards of engineering and technology institutes conducted by the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA, ranked the ICT as number one in India and number four in the world.
