New Delhi: Women teachers who were appointed on contract by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) can now awail maternity leave for three months.
This was announced by MCD Education Committee Chairman Mahinder Nagpal. This facility, he said, would benefit as many as 2,500 women teachers who are engaged on contract basis with MCD.
Earlier, maternity leave was limited to permanent women employees only. Nagpal said "contractual women teachers have already been provided one day casual leave in a month. Their monthly emoluments have also been increased from Rs 11,000 to Rs 13,500," he said.
